How long do panels really last?
Solar panels typically have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years, or even longer in some cases. However, this doesn't mean that they'll stop generating electricity after this period. Instead, it indicates that their efficiency in producing energy will diminish to a level that solar panel manufacturers deem sufficient for replacement.
Will you drill holes on my roof?
Typically, the installation process may require drilling holes or making certain modifications. However, we ensure that we only create essential openings, and our method of securing attachments to your roof is designed to be extremely waterproof, complemented by sealant to prevent any water infiltration.
To date, we have experienced no problems with our installations, and should any arise, you are covered by our Blueshift warranty for a year. This gives you the opportunity to see how the setup performs throughout the different seasons.
What is the maintenance for solar?
Solar panels typically require minimal upkeep, primarily involving system checks to ensure everything is functioning correctly. Cleaning the panels to enhance their efficiency 1-3x a year is recommended but not required.
When you choose to install with us, we offer a complimentary cleaning service for the first year, available up to 3x. In subsequent years, this service can be requested for a fee.
Our systems will also monitor your solar as long as we exists and your system is still connected.
How does Meralco sync with solar?
As you use your energy the way you normally do, solar will be prioritized in the supply of your electricity and Meralco will supplement what's missing.
If you get excess power from solar the inverter will automatically limit the output if you are not on the net metering program or have a battery backup.
You will not have to flip any switches or constantly have to keep watch of your system.
What happens if something breaks?
In general your solar system is very tough and protected by extensive warranties like the following:
Solar Panels - 10 year product warranty & 20 year performance warranty.
Inverters - 5 year product warranty.
Blueshift Workmanship - 1 year warranty.
However if our monitoring has not picked up an issue and you notice an issue please send us a message through your account manager or by emailing [email protected]
Do I need to get batteries?
The downsides of solar without batteries is that you won't be able to store this power for night time and has to be consumed the same time you are using your energy. However there are programs like the net-metering program that will allow you to export up to 100kW capacity to the grid so that you won't have to store this power.
Having a battery is expensive and the more times you use the battery the faster it degrades so we only really recommend this option if you are concerned with a power outage or as a replacement for a generator system.
